4YP Student, Project title: "Influence of Group Shape on the Capacity of Horizontally-Loaded Pile Groups in Undrained Soil"

Department of Engineering Science, Oxford University,

Biography

Mike is a 4th year MEng Engineering Science Student at the University of Oxford, specialising in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering. His love for this field all stems from his time working as a research assistant to Dr Brian Sheil, where they investigated the behaviour of buried pipelines.

Mike’s work with the FOCUS Research Group is a numerical investigation into the behaviour of deep pile foundation groups under lateral loading. This is being conducted with finite element analyses, using iterative adaptive remeshing to obtain high accuracy results for low computational cost.
