If you’re a motivated student or recent graduate, with a passion for AI, then we’d love to hear from you! We are currently accepting applications for PhD positions, visiting positions and internships. Postdoctoral opportunities are advertised on jobs.ac.uk.

Our work seeks to develop fundamental and generalisable methods tested in challenging infrastructure and construction environments. Therefore, applicants should have a strong background (education/experience) in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer vision, information engineering and/or computer science. Candidates are expected to have a first class honours degree. We do not expect successful candidates will have a background in infrastructure and construction.

The scope of our work is flexible and wide-ranging, as described here. There will be opportunities to work with any of the following technological enablers:

  • Computer vision
  • 3D semantic reconstruction
  • Intelligent robotics
  • Multi-modal fusion
  • LLMs / LVMs
  • Physical AI
  • Zero-/few-shot learning
  • Diffusion models

The successful candidate(s) will join the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction and the Laing O’Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology, University of Cambridge and will work in a vibrant multidisciplinary team.

To apply: please send your CV, including details of your academic record, and a 1-page research proposal to Brian Sheil (bbs24@Cam.ac.uk). Please specify your ranking within your cohort for each degree (e.g. ranked X out of Y students).
