Biography

Kevin graduated from University College Cork in 2017 with a first class honours in his Bachelor of Engineering, specializing in Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering. In the same year, he obtained an Enterprise Partnership Scheme Postgraduate scholarship from the Irish Research Council, with Ward and Burke Construction Ltd. as the enterprise partner. Kevin has also represented Ward and Burke onsite for a number of months in Canada, Ireland, and the UK.
Kevin’s work is focused on the skin friction component of the jacking force experienced in microtunnelling. This aim of his research is to investigate the effect of shear rate, bentonite volume, and stoppages on interface friction using both small and large scale physical models.
